You all more then welcome to take it.
But from my understanding of 3rd seat, is that it requires skill with more then one fighting style. No one trick pony. It requires gp being spent and the rp to show it, that you are a weapons master. and i think that extends to even kido.
I played to take this approach anyway, with a balanced stat and eventually skill layout.
Sure fighting is *great* but honestly, I am not here for pvp. I am here for story. but from my understand, above, its a rather niche position. Either of you are prob better going for 2nd seat. shrugs. Though again you are all prob better position to make theses changes to your character Then I am currently or already have the skill spread needed
Genki Ogawa whats your requirements for the position?

I think the listing in the OP is pretty straight forward. I want a person with a wide eye in order to learn the habits of officers and soldiers, and the sort of attitude necessary to keep people rotating, learning, and growing at large.
If you want to specialize in a specific style of combat, teach others about it and how to get better at it, then one of the three seats below that is for you. I am by no means looking for a good "fighter" to fill 3rd seat.
My goals/interpretation is this: 1) The Captain, when the obligation is filled, should be considerate of entire theaters of battle. Planning and grand strategy, and ensuring the 'worthiness' of the officers of the Gotei. 2) The Lieutenant should be considerate of specific threats. Identifying strengths and weakness of key opponents, and creating the strategy needed to neutralize them. Further more, they also focus on "squad" tactics. 3) The Third Seat, should the obligation be filled, ensures everyone is exposed to as much as possible. They get the right people to the right trainers, assess skills, and assign to minimize weakness. 4) The other named seats (i.e. Iron Fist) are "Masters" of their style of combat, and are the person to be in charge of / be blamed for the training of members in that style of combat.
3) The Third Seat, should the obligation be filled, ensures everyone is exposed to as much as possible. They get the right people to the right trainers, assess skills, and assign to minimize weakness.
That right there is why I believe a veteran soldier is best suited for the seating. Someone like Vic, I'm going to use myself because I know her best, has been there and done it all at least twice. She's held positions as high as LT within the 5th at various points in her career.
She knows what it takes to make effective fighting men and women. Knows how to read the recruits and make sure they find their ways into the hands of capable trainers and squads that can help them along. Under Nagisa she was given fourth seat and duties much similar to those of this position. Since the restructuring of the division I've continued to play her as doing that job simply because it needs doing and who else to do it but herself? Now, if she was told to stop doing that she would gladly cease doing those things but seeing as she hasn't she's continued to do so.
So, Genki, as I asked in Discord a few days back I'd like to have a sit down thread about this. Just Vic and Genki discussing the duties of third seat and the possibility of her taking it and continuing to do the task given to her by Captain Chinda.

shrugs, I think the 3rd seat as more to do with interacting with players then npc's. Vic Have you threaded with everyone in Squad yet? Might be a good move, to secure that seat even more for you I think said 3rd seat requires a lot of threads interacting with the squad directly, and assisting everyone its not what one's character has done in past/age of character. Its what you do now, and how you interact.
This is how I play Junko mainly, Sooo keep that in mind, its about the rp now
This is 5th division. If you think you're right for the job prove it. If they' don't believe your words show them. If someone has a seat you want take it from them.
Anyone interested in a rough a tumble impromptu battlefield training thread?
Officially sanctioned as training.
Participants will be broken into two teams. These teams will fight it out in a single thread.
Fights will be one on one till a participant is defeated. Victors are encouraged to aid their teammates in defeating their opponents.
This will allow participants a chance to experience fighting in close to battlefield conditions. For those that have experienced combat in earnest this is but practice but for those who've yet to see actual warfare this could be a life saving lesson.
The training will be monitored by myself and if someone goes for a death blow on someone I'll intervene.
All interested in participating should put "Sapphire Earrings" in their reply to this topic. I'll kick this thread off a week from Saturday on the 15th of July.
