Of all the things she could do in the Seireitei, Hanako had never actually gone shopping for anything personal for herself. Hell, most of her sewing supplies were the ones that she had brought with her from the Rukongai. The needles, thread, cloth, and just everything that she needed to make things were all just made from things she had brought with her. Hell, even the gloves she wore when on a mission or just generally in the world of the living were made from just a random mishmash of materials that she had on her at the time. The gloves themselves were leather that she had stitched together and lined with green cloth.
The rings around them? Stuffed with shards of metal that she had collected over time. The only reason that they even held together was that they were being so heavily compressed.
If she was being honest, she really needed to go shopping for new sewing supplies, and general things to keep for herself. If not for personal comfort, than for the need to not feel like she was just some random Shinigami in the massive ranks of the Seireitei. Granted, that was precisely what she was. But still, she was trying to be different than that. She wanted to get stronger, prevent things like what had happened before in the years that she had been in the Soul Society. Granted, with all of that in mind, she still couldn't make her way through the city without the use of a somewhat useful hand-drawn map. For what was essentially a military base, the Seireitei was still unnaturally easy to get lost in. Maybe it was a result of most of the buildings looking the same, maybe she just needed more time to figure out where everything was.
Still, she managed to find her way to one of the shopping districts. She gave out a small sigh of relief as she rolled up the now updated map, as she had taken several wrong turns to get here, finding herself in several different residential districts for the few merchants and more wealthy Shinigami. The map itself was very obviously just the result of her general wandering. Still, she had to admit that it was helpful when she needed it. And really, wasn't that the point of a map? Alright. Now she could get searching for more sewing supplies, maybe even some supplies to actually help her train! So, weaving through the crowded street,
she started looking at the various shops. The first one she was going to look for was a place to try and get some completely new cloth. Her gloves were starting to get a little frayed and torn from how much she was using them, and she didn't really have any replacement cloth for it. It took a good twenty minutes of searching, but she eventually found just a regular stand, set apart from all the rest by the fact that it was all but crushed in between two buildings.
Honestly, something like this wasn't unheard of in the Seireitei. But at the same time, it certainly wasn't common. And from the looks of it, it was a stand that was selling fabrics..and lots of them. That definitely piqued her interest. So, weaving through the crowd of both regular residents and low level shinigami on their off time, Hanako eventually made her way through to the stand itself. The owner was a rather young looking woman. But that didn't mean too much here in the Soul Society. Hell, she was almost a hundred and fifty, but she didn't look a day older than nineteen. Appearance didn't really mean all that much here.
Still, she opened her mouth to speak, and the woman running the stand held her hand up, pulling out a notebook and pencil and writing down on it before turning it around. Apparently, she couldn't speak. She was born mute. She supposed that was fine. Still, she looked through what all the woman had set up for sale in her little stand. There was some rather nice looking white silk..in fact..she'd been wanting to make a little headband to keep her hair neat..this might just be the fabric she needed to make it work.
So, without much hesitation, she pointed back to the white silk. "How much for a yard of that white silk?" She asked, just loudly enough to be heard over the crowd. Of course, when she was given the price, she winced a bit. That was fairly expensive..but she made enough to get just that yard of silk, and the green fabric she needed. She then nodded and also ordered a yard of a regular green fabric, paying the woman before nodding and having her place the fabrics into a bag. She then wandered off back into the crowd. Things were going rather well thus far. Next was the sewing supplies.
