‘Fresh out of the Academy’ the report she had gotten this morning had told her in a neat, elegant handwriting. A couple of traits mentioned by his former instructors were ‘reliable’ and ‘loyal’. This would be a good opportunity to see how reliable he really was. Tapping the desk a couple of times she let her gaze slide toward the shoji.
“Come in.”
His mission was summarized in the letter which she casually pushed over the desk’s smooth surface. He was to track down a female Quincy by the name Alexandra. The young woman was a resident of Tokyo and had wounded a Shinigami not too long ago. Yui had engaged with her, but hadn’t thought it to be necessary to take her out. The last part wasn’t in the letter. There was no need to let Caspar in on the subject of their meeting any more than was necessary for his mission to be a success. Emotional details were irrelevant and could later on turn into distractions.
“You have the information we currently have on her. Someone from the Fourth should have uploaded the most likely routes she takes into a device that you’ll be able to pick up this afternoon.” Pinning him with her gaze she wondered if he would pull through a fight should it come to that. Perhaps that, too, would be a good test.
“I want anything you can find on her, but the most important thing is assessing her powers. Is she a future threat and so on.” She doubted that she had to explain everything to him. He was accepted into the Second for a reason.
“You’re free to pick your method in acquiring the necessary information, I’ll be expecting a report on the matter in a week time.”
If he would spy on her that was fine, if he were to try to interrogate her through civil or violent means, well, it was up to him really. As long as everything happened quietly she wouldn’t need to move a muscle. And, well, in the worst case they would be missing a Quincy or a recruit. Kasumi could live with either of those.
“Dismissed.”

The ghostly side of Karakura always gave Sasha the shivers. Most of the buildings had empty, soulless windows staring back at you, and when the wind blew at the right angle the holes that used to be doors howled a sad song. The only reason she actually came here was to train. Some would call it ‘hunting’, but she thought that to sound quite insensitive. And while she wasn’t one to argue about her deeds being humane in any way, she thought them to be necessary for her well-being.
Hunting is necessary for one’s survival, an annoying voice pointed out from somewhere at the back of her mind. She shut it up by completely ignoring its existence. The last thing she needed now was to be doubting herself. With her being so close to the enemy’s ‘territory’ her thoughts should be already in a row. There was no time for thinking from here on, only for acting.
So she acted.
Carefully trying to hold her energy as close to herself as was possible, she quietly stalked her prey through the outskirts of the ruined part of the city. Her eyes barely left the creature during their little game of- she had wanted to say ‘tag’ but it wasn’t that, and hide-and-seek didn’t fit either- tracing?
Once it had settled down to feed upon a smaller Hollow Sasha took her chance. Forming an arrow between her fingers she let the bow collect in her other hand. Pull, aim. She felt her muscles tense a bit more with every passing moment. Then, the arrow flew forward. It briefly glittered in the last few sun rays of the day before slamming into the beast’s mask. Now that was a shot with some deadly consequences.
