Amara’s enterprise, if it was even hers, appeared to have facilities across the globe which allowed her to conduct various business ventures. New York, London, Paris and Tokyo were just a few of the cities mentioned in the documents. Unfortunately, knowing the city yielded few clues regarding an exact location of their base of operations. As such, he could do little more than scour the reports of the Shinigami stationed in those cities. More often than not, this yielded no leads, but even one exception to the rule was enough to make the entire effort worthwhile. It was one of these rare instances that had brought Merrick to Tokyo, Japan. A colleague had reported seeing a Shinigami and an Arrancar traveling together. When they gave chase, the pair easily eluded pursuit. In truth, it wasn’t much to go on, but a Shinigami and an Arrancar on good terms was unheard of. However, given his earlier battle at the lab station, he knew for a fact there was a group of Shinigami-Arrancar allies. Finding them was the problem.
While a report was all well and good as a source of information. Alain liked to go directly to the source. Thus, he had made arrangements to meet with the patrolling Shinigami of the area and author of the report. Sliding his hand inside his robes, he retrieved the denreishinki to check the time. He had nearly two hours before he had to return to the listening post. Guess I shall take in the sights until their duty shift ends. One of these days, he would find the time to build his two underground labs, not to mention the clinic which hide one of them. As such, he still liked to view human realm architecture when given the opportunity. This was one of those times. Upon jumping from the roof of the two story theater, he employed a few bursts of reiryoku to send him soaring over the city. He was headed to a downtown hospital. No doubt it would be much too large to serve as a Rukongai clinic, but it should provide him with some ideas that could be adapted. Just when he was about to reach his destination, he felt a prickling sensation on the back of the neck. His ever present sixth sense had detected a significant spiritual signature, forcing him to stop in mid-air. Hmm, Janus? . . . What is she doing in Tokyo? Sky blue eyes began scanning in the direction of the reiatsu signature as he began his descent to street level.
