Well since we're on this "Lets ban or not ban Kyou" train lets just lay some ground rules out.
Shun. You really shouldn't post. We get it you're his friend, and I doubt I could ban my friend either. Fortunately, you're not staff anymore and your opinions are very well known. You can leave now.
As for Kyou, objectively as Ben pointed out, he should be gone at this point, years later, multiple bans, and multiple ban violations pretty much speak for themselves. But lets let other players speak, lets ask the Quincy players how happy they are Kyou decided to enlist in their faction? Are they happier he's going to be RPing with them or are they upset about it?
Let me start by saying, I know I'm not staff, but please, I need you to hear me out.
Eaon, let me be real here.
I've been a pain in the ass to the site since I started, and sure, I've gotten a little more mature (key word: little) and a ways bit better at writing, but does that stop me from being an asshole? No. I am an asshole a lot, and I admit to it! I've been punished for it before, and probably will be again, and you know what? With good reason! Not only that, but earlier in my stay here, when I fucked shit up once in a while, you know who sat me down and told me to shut up and fix the issues I had started?
Tova.
Now, I can't call Shun my friend, because we don't know each other that well, but out of anybody on the site, Tova knows more about ME in real life and as a person than any single other player to ever touch this URL. I can tell you right now, if I caused a problem for the site big enough to warrant a ban, every single person on the site, friend or not, would unanimously say: "Get him out of here". It's the same with Kyou too, but Shun being his friend has nothing to do with it! People hate Kyou, people like Kyou, WHO FUCKING CARES. The members of the site (or at least certainly the ones with any power) operate completely and utterly impartially. They are like the most serious and honest supreme court justices, and I have not ONCE seen or heard them act in any other manner than they should. If Kyou deserved to be banned, then he would be! Hell, he isn't allowed to use the site's public chat features any more for good reason! The only reason Shun says that he won't be banned is because despite that impartial-ness, he simply won't do anything worth banning him for! He, along with the rest of the community, value the experiences they have on this site tremendously, and for good reason.
I don't dislike you Eaon, I think you're an awesome dude, but the staff has literally done nothing wrong, and I hate it when people act like they have! Sure, they've made mistakes once in a while, but when, I ask you WHEN, have they not fixed it?
That's right.
Vic was unbanned because the felt Vic should be unbanned.
Kyousuke got a good grade on his app NOT BECAUSE OF HIS PLAYER RECOGNITION, which I believe is the operative argument here, but because he followed the format. If transparency is an issue, I don't see why it should be! The staff give you all the info you need to get a perfect application score just like him, and what they've been doing obviously keeps the site damn running! If we didn't have a playerbase who thought the staff was half decent, we wouldn't be one of the strongest and most active bleach role play sites on the fucking planet!
You know, I applied for staff once (twice), and I now really understand why they didn't accept me. I find it hard to deal with shit like this properly, and I imagine it's just as hard for them. Fucking champions, all of them.
Okay, that's all. Rant over, and no hard feelings towards anybody.
You know that moment when you step away for like an hour or two because real life happens and this is what you get back to. Shit moves fast in these threads.
I guess I'll pick up where I left off and that is letting staff prove my point for me though I think the memes are doing a pretty good job of that.
You keep talking about this whole "Otto's score thing has been talked to death." which is again proving my point. You fail to see the issues with it people are having. The issues people are having is they feel staff plays favorites with Kyou, which, let's be honest, there's some pretty strong evidence that they do. You say "Oh well look at our guidelines that he followed so we gave him a perfect score even though we felt personally it wasn't a perfect app." well to me I say, that is favoritism. You're making excuses for it, your excuse is guidelines which are interpreted differently from person to person as evident by the shitload of members who have apparently talked you to death with it who feel he was unfairly given a pass. Rather than say "You know maybe we were wrong." and calling him back to fix those issues or say "Maybe we need to examine, openly these issues." or "Maybe we the staff should seek out the opinions of those members who felt cheated and wronged." you instead wait until it bleeds into BG chat which more and more people are avoiding, or until a thread calling you on playing favorites/not being transparent enough appears only to then say "We've talked it to death."
Well here's myself, and a slew of others asking "What exactly is this shit you're selling me?" and please take that at face value because it is exactly that, shit.
Also, you are, absolutely ignoring that what I'm willing to bet is the vast majority of players want Kyou gone. A few years back Shun decided to make it so staff first and foremost served the players, in fact he went so hard on it that people like myself thought he was too hard particularly on himself. Seriously, imagine that, Shun went SO hard on staff that myself and other players were like "Dude you don't need to be that hard on yourselves you're human beings, Christ take it easy.". So what I'm seeing years later is, the idea of Staff has gone from "Be thou for the players." to "I hear that you lot don't like him, and I see that he breaks a metric fuckload of rules, but I'm not gonna do anything to him really."
But lets not lie to ourselves here, you do not apply your rules fairly nor equally among the members. Kyou has always enjoyed undeserved protections from staff to the point that you would rather sit here for pages, and pages, and pages getting slammed than to just enforce your own CoC. We, myself, players like Frey and Adi (sorry if I'm using your names out of context) do not feel like staff is even worth talking to anymore because it gets no where and does nothing. If I have a problem with someone harassing another player, it doesn't matter I get some PR answer and it doesn't get addressed. If Proto Bitch is having her named changed without even being asked if she would be willing to change it herself first, we have a problem. If a shit load of people feel as though the grading on profiles is staff playing favorites, we have a real fucking problem.
And spoiler alert guys, People see these things, believe these things, and you have a fucking problem.
This thread is beautiful though, because normally the meme posts get on my nerves but they have a very valid point.
If what Kyou did and hasn't done isn't worthy of anything, then why the fuck is he banned at all? If you felt so strongly about all the shit he's done over the years, the shit he's said, the rules he's violated, the bans he's skirted that you were willing to put up a whole week long ban, then why the fuck don't you, staff, have the balls to commit fully and take it all the way? This right here is a disingenuous half measure and you're getting the reaction of a half measure, because now you can say "But we temp banned him, that was punishment right?" When you know full fucking well the punishment doesn't live up to the crime. This is the forum equivalent to EA coming out at the Xbox One announcement and saying "Look how great and pro consumer we are, we got rid of season passes for Xbox One!" all while giggling to themselves because they knew behind the scenes Microsoft was about to spring always online requirements and DRM. You claim to hold up your ideals with one hand and you hold the shovel to bury them with the other.
Its sad, its frustrating, and I think quite a few of us are getting pretty fucking sick of it.

I thought the argument was that he did do stuff worth banning for.... not the chat shit but the stacking grains of sand.... I still say to release the kraken thou.

I haven't verified this myself, but I heard there was even shit as recently as him threatening to bring in Hazumi to deal with people who don't like Otto. Nothing forces you to pay attention like a "If you ignore or go against my my prestige level Shinigami gon' attack you." statement.
Not gonna lie, I'm kinda with them on this. If he's not actually bad at all, why the restrictions?
By the way I was here when he first came back and maaaaan was he a serious asshole. Still is tbh, but I've sort of become a hemorrhoid, so I tend to annoy assholes now.
That said, might as well take off the training wheels and experiment. You'll either prove those who think he needs to be banned right, or prove yourself correct in that he's harmless and we panicked/got mad for nothing.

But I was told we can just ignore him.... So SET HIM FREE, SET HIM FREE!

"Pls like my new character or I'll beat you up"
