I remember when BG had the following stats:
Strength
Defense
Speed
Reiatsu
I remember I had to fight tooth and nail with Riko to have Reiatsu changed to Spirit and "SP Total" changed to Reiatsu (normally I would credit ryder here for the original idea but ryder sux).
I remember when Stamina was calculated by finding the average of Strength, Defense, and Speed.
I remember getting Bankai meant you had to have at least 50 Reiatsu.
I remember when despite all the above, Reiatsu did the exact same shit and more that Spirit does today.
I remember when we had no Skills and stats were the only thing GP bought you.
I remember that the stat system could be so absurdly gamed because of the sheer idiocy of its implementation:
- You converted GP into "SP" (Stat Points) and didn't have to allocate them immediately.
- Ranking up gave you straight up Stat Points, not GP because each rank had associated base SP instead of base GP or some stupid shit like that.
- People would purchase GP at lower levels, really hoard it, then rank up like two or three times in a row and all of a sudden they were at cap with what essentially amounted to ridiculously low amounts of spent GP because they then allocated their stored SP.
I remember when each Espada position granted more than the last and Cuarto alone was higher than Captain-Commander or something equally ridiculous. Maybe I'm exaggerating here.
I remember when we had to write posts to rank up and 500 words was the norm for shit like Captaincies and the top four Espada positions.
I remember when Siy was a member of this board and I thank all manner of gods that he is not any more.
I remember Yokose Hoshiryo, the uh
uuuuhhhhh
Half-Royal, former Vaizard? No, he was uh a Shinigami who had an inner Hollow and was an Ex-Royal, I think.
I remember when we had no Skills
I remember Kyousuke Tsukimiya, that idiot who used Bakudō once or twice and generally held the opinion that Speed was a cool stat (kill me now)
I remember Urufu and that is literally all I'm gonna say about that because no
I remember plotting great things in IRC
I remember the absurdly betamax version of Mitsutaka and I am so very thankful that he dropped that act like it was hot (but hey it worked really well so I'll give him that)
I remember when we had so many subforums it would have been faster to just go to that location IRL and post something on a public noticeboard—oh wait nope still like that, thanks tova
I remember when solo threads could only be posted in once every 24 hours, and you could only earn 10 GP per post, and you could only claim once you got to 100 GP total, and you could only have one solo thread at once (granted this last one is still true in name last I checked but I seriously doubt anyone actually cares)
I REMEMBER WHEN WE HAD NO SKILLS
I remember when there were zero standards for techs or powers, only a set of three rules that governed powers, one of which I seem to recall was "no time manipulation". Okay, so maybe the Old BG wasn't all bad.
I remember Javaid and I think I've reached my vomit quota for this decade so let's leave it here, shall we?
